Man Vs. Man
- Montag Vs. Beatty- Beatty tries to get Montag to believe that books should be burned, and Montag feels guilty and anxious around Beatty, and ends up burning him
- Montag Vs. Mildred- Montag wants to see what books hold, but Mildred wants nothing to do with the books
Man Vs. Technology
- Montag Vs. The Mechanical Hound- The Hound first growls at Montag, then sniffs under his door, and finally tries to kill him, but Montag burns it before it can, only to have a second Hound come after him
- Montag Vs. the parlor walls- Mildred spends more time looking at the walls than talking to Montag, so he shuts it off and tries to gain her attention with the books
Man V.s Circumstance
- Montag Vs. the atom bomb- When the atomic bomb blows up the city, there is nothing for montag to do but grieve for Mildred and move on
Man vs.Society
- Montag Vs. the people's will- Montag wants society to read books again, but society doesn't, which is why the firemen were created: to burn books
- Montag Vs. the government- The government is what created the firemen, whom Montag now opposes, and they also chased Montag as he tried to escape from the city after killing Beatty
Man Vs. Self
- Montag begins to doubt being a fireman at the beginning of the novel
- Montag becomes confused about books after Beatty makes quotes while playing cards, and previously Montag wanted to understand the book for a reason he didn't understand, which made him more confused yet more desperate to understand
